Unfortunately we don’t have the full funding for a parade festival event this year, so the BFOL team are having a sabbatical and planning ahead to 2024!
However, DON’T PANIC!
We’re really excited to announce that we are working in partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Council and The Firepit Tipis and will be hosting ‘SHARE YOUR LIGHT‘ – an evening event instead!
On Saturday 16th December from 5-7pm YOU are invited to come and ‘SHARE YOUR LIGHT’. Blackburn Festival of Light drummers will be playing and there will be fantastic walkabout performances and light installations to bring an atmosphere of festival to Cathedral Square.
We are looking forward to seeing our community pull together, as you all did for the virtual parade in 2020, to join us, coming together to celebrate and make this a fabulous sharing event.
LED paper and willow lantern making workshops will be taking place on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th December from 10.30-1.30pm and 2-5pm, and a drop-in Paper Bag Lantern and Light up Hat Workshop on Saturday 16th December from 1.30-4.30pm at the Blackburn Festival of Light event Hub in The Lewis Building, 3 Exchange Street (next door to The Making Rooms), giving people the opportunity to make a lantern or light up hat to bring and share.
We also have some kits available if people want to make their own at home. Check our Facebook and keep an eye on the website for further details of ways to get involved!
Our plan is to be back with a full parade in 2024, so if you want to get involved and help us make this happen please get in touch, this could be as a volunteer, a stakeholder, or maybe you could help fund it by sponsoring us or giving us a donation!
Your involvement and kind donations help keep us doing this amazing thing year in, year out! A big thank you from all of us at Team BFOL!
