We want you to be more involved- this is your festival as much as it is ours!
We are busy planning for this year’s festival and parade, but we need YOU.
This year’s event date is Saturday 17th December, when we plan to celebrate with a community lantern parade, street performers and music.
This year’s theme is birds
Which birds do you think should join our Phoenix in the parade?
Wise owls? Clever Corvids, Proud pigeons, skeins of geese. We are thinking flocks, migrating or lone roosting robins, murmurations of starlings, cosy nests of curlew, peacock, gull, gliding swan, open cages to flee, free as a bird. It is over to you and your imagination.
Come along to one of our community meetings and help shape the direction of our events. Do you have an amazing light up idea for your group or yourself? Bring your ideas and see how we can help you make them reality.
Groups and organisations
Are you part of a band that just needs costumes? Do you have a dance group that would like to showcase their work in light up style? Do you run weekly sessions with a group who’d love to be involved but just need the skills and materials? We can help!
Come along to The Bureau on Monday 24th October from 4-5.30pm or Tuesday 25th October 7-8.30pm to find out more about the event, how to be part of it, training options, talk ideas and have a go at creating a small bird to be part of the lit up windows in town centre venues. Register here

Individuals and Families
Are you and your family really keen to do more? Would you be up for giving out flyers? Could you get involved in volunteering with workshops? Would you be available to steward the event? Would you be interested in decorating a shop window? Could you help us revamp some of our big lanterns? Have you got an awesome light up idea? Are you good at funding bids or getting sponsorship? Do you have a special skill to offer? Would you like to carry a big lantern puppet?
We will be holding 2 community information meetings, one on Monday 24th October and one on Tuesday 25th October 7-8.30pm. Come along and have a chat, find out more, make a bird for a window display meet the team and other people who are getting involved and register as a volunteer.
