In 2023 we held a smaller static event ‘Share YOUR Light’ where we invited people to join us and bring a light or lantern to celebrate together.

In 2022 we were back out in full force. This fantastic video shows the depth of our engagement and follows a personal journey of one young person’s involvement with Blackburn Festival of Light as a participant as a child, to a teen volunteer and now moving into the world as an emerging artist.

2021 was a double cause for celebration. We were in recovery from COVID and celebrating our 10th anniversary! Watch the video below to find out more about why it was important to people to be part of the event.

2020 called for a Virtual Parade with COVID restrictions. Kits were sent out to communities and schools and people came in their household bubbles to film, or sent in home videos. These were curated into a projection piece with images and footage from previous year’s festivals and a specially recorded soundtrack from our very own street band working with Mitch Oldham. This was projected onto Blackburn Town Hall in November and December and was a true reflection of the community spirit and ownership of our annual celebration event.

Our first ever Summer Parade in 2019 was funded with the People’s Project money that we won, thanks to YOUR votes. Here’s a short film of the event in 2019 and also a film of the Winter Parade 2019 which was also part funded by the People’s Project.

Videos from 2018 Winter Parade from Scott Jackson:

Film is a wonderful way to get a flavour of an event, and we have some delightful footage from 2017 year, thanks to some great people who came and filmed purely because they wanted to!

Here is a fantastic film created by Jordan Moore of Racoon Media that really captures the magic of the evening.

And this upbeat shorter version from Greenbrook Media

Parading the Dove from Huckleberry Films

And a short film of Dan Fox’s Boom Bikes and their beautiful projections

We are also using film to let people know more about us- follow the links to find out more about our vision, and our funding application to the People’s Project.
