It is time to get back out and bring our communities together to celebrate!
Having grown from a small event run by a single artist working with the council to the large-scale celebratory events of the last few years we plan to give Blackburn something special to mark our anniversary year, creating a cultural attraction bringing audiences to the town and putting Blackburn on the map of places to go this Winter.
Have a look at our Sponsorship Brochure below and read on for more info.

Blackburn Festival of Light is a celebration by and for the people of the town. Community ownership and engagement is at the heart of what we do. We believe in the town and it’s people, and that Blackburn is and deserves to be a place to be proud of. The event is run annually by a team of artists from Blackburn Festival of Light CIC, in partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and Blackburn BID.
We know that given the opportunity people from all different backgrounds and walks of life can and will come together to create wonderful experiences and shared memories, building a stronger community invested in their local area. This year’s theme is ‘Birds’ and we really want the festival to take flight!
Last year many businesses stepped forward to offer sponsorship when our usual funding application was unsuccessful. This year it is also proving particularly difficult to access our usual funding pots so it is more essential than ever that we are again supported by local businesses. We really do need your help to make this year’s celebration a successful event that is worthy of the town and celebrates this wonderful community involvement in a truly spectacular way.
Sponsors will be included on our Funders and Sponsors page on our website, and thanked on our social media channels and larger donors will have their logos included in our print and social media publicity and event programme.
We have training sessions for staff who would like to deliver lantern making themselves, but we can also come and work with your team and we’d love you to get involved hands on too! If you have a fantastic idea for how your business could support us in a more creative way, then we’d love to hear that too.
Please get in touch if you would like to have a chat about how you could be involved in making this a real celebration of our community, even if you can’t support us financially. We are holding meetings at Blackburn museum to keep stakeholders informed and connected- the next one being Monday 14th November, by which time our programme of community engagement should be commencing. If you’d like to attend this and haven’t received an invite, please let us know
