Stakeholder Events

Are you a Local Business or organisation based in Blackburn that is interested in finding out more about Blackburn Festival of Light?

This year the Blackburn Festival of Light team are very excited to be holding our first ever stakeholder meetings and we would love to invite you along to be part of them!

Blackburn Festival of Light has been an integral part of the annual event calendar in Blackburn since 2011 and we have gone from strength to strength, bringing a fantastic community celebratory lantern parade and light-up event right into the heart of Blackburn in partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Council and Blackburn BID.

Every year we engage with communities across the town to create lanterns, costumes, teach fire dance, light-up poi and stilt walking in the weeks before the event and we have our very own carnival drumming band that meets all year round. Engaging over 900 people in workshops in 2021 and attracting over 3000 people in the audience on the night, this is truly an event that is becoming a tradition for the town.

We work with local businesses and organisations every year to deliver the event, and this year we want to work even closer with more local partners and new organisations and businesses in the town to make the event a success. An event owned by everyone and something we can all be proud of creating together.

At our first stakeholder event on Monday 26th September we showed films from the previous years events, giving a presentation about our history and our vision for this year and the future, sharing ways to get involved including opportunities for engagement as well as sponsorship, and invited you to bring your ideas to the table.

We had some really exciting ideas brought to us and are looking forwards to working with The Making Rooms and The Bureau Centre for the Arts on supporting their ideas for being involved in partnership working as well as looking at ways to work with Blackburn College, Youth Action, Age Concern, Nightsafe, IMO, BwD Integration team and other partners. We are also really grateful to Taylor’s Solicitors and Lancashire Shredding for offering sponsorship for this year’s event.

We will be holding a second stakeholder event on Monday 14th November from 4.00- 5.30pm at Blackburn Museum . There will be refreshments provided and some printed literature for you to take away. If you would like to find out more please RSVP by filling in the following form : https://form.jotform.com/222624798587069
